CEO

Fred is the CEO of Westfield Steel. He is one of the original founders of the company and has been with Westfield Steel since its inception in 1977. Fred has been the President and sole owner since 1999. As CEO of the company, Fred leads the strategic vision of Westfield Steel. He is an active member of the board for the North American Steel Alliance, a purchasing cooperative for metals service centers, and recently completed a three-year commitment as the board chairman. Fred is passionate about the steel industry and his nearly 50 years working with steel give him invaluable insight. Prior to starting the company, Fred was a sales manager for Metron Steel (now part of Kloeckner Metals) and served as an operations and sales manager at Indianapolis Machinery and Steel.

Fritz Prine

President, CFO & COO

Fritz is the President, CFO, and COO at Westfield Steel. He oversees the daily operations and is involved with the strategic vision of the company. Fritz has been with Westfield Steel since 2007. Before joining the team, Fritz worked with General Electric and GE Capital for 16 years. He started in finance through GE’s Financial Management Program after graduating from Syracuse University. At GE, he successfully moved from finance, to manufacturing, to sales, and then to acquisitions. He relishes in change and enjoys developing people.

Jon Deakyne

Sales Manager

Jon is the Sales Manager at Westfield Steel. He spends his time with both the inside and outside sales teams with the goal of making a positive and energetic business development environment for the company. Jon has been with the company since 1995 and has led as Inside Sales Manager since 2002. Before joining the team at Westfield Steel, Jon worked with Action Steel (now Kloeckner Metals). Having been in the steel industry for over 20 years, the steel business is what Jon knows best and truly loves.

Scott Garner

Purchasing Manager

Scott is the Purchasing Manager at Westfield Steel. Scott joined the company in 2013, and is responsible for the overall management of our supply chain. Scott comes to Westfield with over 25 years in the steel industry. Scott started his career with Dietrich Industries after graduating from Geneva College. He has been successful in sales and purchasing with industry notables such as Lock Joint Tube, Steel Warehouse, and Ambassador Steel. With his outlook and experience, Scott understands the value of solid partnerships. He strives to develop relationships that add value to Westfield Steel, allowing us to better serve our customers.

Jeff Johnson

Controller

Jeff is the Controller at Westfield Steel. He is responsible for the financial operations of the company. Jeff joined the company in December of 2015, and brings 29 years of accounting and business experience. Jeff started his career at KPMG Peat Marwick as a staff auditor after graduating from Butler University. Jeff expanded his business expertise with stints at Duke Realty,  Simon Property Group, and Graphic Arts Center in Indianapolis, where he was Controller and VP of Finance.  He comes to us most recently after 15 years with Herff Jones, where he had various positions of increasing responsibility as Accounting Manager, Division Controller, and Assistant Corporate Controller.   Jeff enjoys the operations side of business and has a unique perspective on how Finance can both support and lead to success in an organization.

Jack Laudig

Production Manager

Jack is the Production Manager at Westfield Steel. He is responsible for the planning, coordination, and control of the steel parts production process. Jack has been a member of the Westfield Steel team since 1997 and has served as Production Manager since 2002. He has extensive experience in the industry and has been a member of the American Welding Society (AWS) since 1987. Jack is a certified welding inspector for AWS and is a certified welding supervisor for the Canadian Welding Bureau. Before joining the Westfield Steel team, Jack spent 15 years with AGA Gas, Inc. (now Airgas, Inc).

Abby Olson

Human Resources Manager

Abby is the Human Resources Manager at Westfield Steel. She is involved in strategic planning related to the Westfield Steel workforce and ensures all employees are thriving in their roles at the company. As customer service is critical to her position, she considers her customers to be our employees. Abby has been on the Westfield Steel team since 2010, and before joining the team  worked in HR capacities at Angie’s List and BSA LifeStructures. She has an undergraduate degree in management with a focus in human resources from Ball State University and an MBA with a focus in entrepreneurship from the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University. Abby has her PHR (Professional in Human Resources) certification.

Ronald Santana

Ronald Santana

Project Manager & Operations Technology Applications Support

Ronald is the Project Manager at Westfield Steel. He is responsible for managing all of our internal and external projects.  He additionally performs the internal support and management of our Operations software and databases.  Ronald has been a member of the Westfield Steel team since  2004, and brings 24 years of data base management, logistics, construction management,  and other systems knowledge to the business.

Joshua Sheneman

Manager of Quality, Environmental Health & Safety

Certified Lean Six Sigma Black Belt (Villanova University)

Josh is the QEHS Manager at Westfield Steel. He is responsible for the managing and improvement of our Quality Environmental Health and Safety program at Westfield Steel.  Josh has been a member of the Westfield Steel team since August 2015. He brings 20 plus years’ manufacturing experience to Westfield Steel working both with sheet and structural steel. He has his degree from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania in Manufacturing Engineering Technology. He is certified both as an ISO9001 Internal Auditor and Lean Professional (CLP). Before joining the team at Westfield Steel, Josh worked for contract steel manufacturers in the Industrial, Transportation, Medical, Machinery, Marine Construction, Off Highway, Military, and Point of Purchase Industries. Josh believes in total quality management looking at employee involvement, process improvements, customer satisfaction, continual improvement, communication at all levels, and fact-based decision making.

Chris Harvey

Transportation Manager

Chris is the Transportation Manager at Westfield Steel. His goals are to deliver top quality products using our own transportation services and provide excellent customer service. Chris has a degree from Indiana State University in Packaging Technology. Before joining Westfield Steel, Chris worked at Advance Distribution Inc. and Watkins & Shepard Trucking. His experience in transportation, trucking and warehousing dates back to 1994. His creativity, experience and transportation industry relationships bring a fresh perspective to his role as Transportation Manager. He has a unique focus on the customer, and he strives to improve relationships.
